MEET BOB KHALSA

A Lifetime of Service, Leadership, and Commitment to Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita is more than a place to live. It is where families build their lives, children grow up, businesses take root, and neighbors become part of a community.

You chose Santa Clarita for a reason.

You wanted good schools, welcoming neighborhoods, clean streets, family-friendly parks, strong local businesses, and a quality of life that feels different from much of Los Angeles County.

You have worked hard to build a life here. You deserve city leadership that understands what makes this community special and is prepared to protect it.

Bob Khalsa is running for Santa Clarita City Council District 5 to help guide our city toward a brighter future built on thoughtful planning, responsible decisions, and respect for the people who already call Santa Clarita home.

A Husband, Father, Veteran, and Businessman

Bob is a husband, father of two sons, veteran, former fighter pilot, commercial airline pilot, educator, successful local businessman, and longtime Santa Clarita resident.

Each of these roles has shaped how he approaches responsibility and leadership.

Bob understands what it means to build a life, raise a family, operate a business, and plan for the future. He also understands that the decisions made at City Hall affect far more than government policy.

They affect your commute, your neighborhood, your children’s schools, your local businesses, your property, and the quality of life your family experiences every day.

That is why Bob believes leadership begins with listening to the people who will live with the results.

Leadership Built Through Experience

Bob served for more than two decades in the Air Force as a fighter pilot, flight instructor, flight safety inspector, and commanding officer. He retired with the rank of colonel after completing an accident- and incident-free military flying career.

He later flew internationally for Air India, Atlas Air, and United Airlines, operating Boeing 747 and Airbus aircraft.

When passengers, crew members, and their families are depending on you, every decision matters. You must prepare thoroughly, understand the situation, remain calm under pressure, and accept responsibility for the outcome.

Those experiences taught Bob that leadership is not about saying what people want to hear. It is about studying the facts, considering the consequences, and making the best decision for the people who trust you.

That is the same disciplined approach he will bring to City Hall.

An Educator Who Values Families and Opportunity

Education has always been important to Bob.

He earned a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in physics, a Master of Business Administration, and diplomas in computer programming and automobile engineering.

After his aviation career, Bob earned a California teaching credential and taught physics, science, and mathematics.

His time teaching 9th- through 12th-grade students at Monroe High School from 2002 to 2005 gave him a deeper appreciation for students, parents, educators, and the important role strong schools play in a community’s future.

Bob believes every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and prepare for a successful future in a supportive school environment.

He also believes young adults should have more opportunities to build careers close to home instead of feeling they must leave the valley to succeed.

A Local Businessman Who Understands Santa Clarita

For more than 20 years, Bob has owned and operated businesses serving families, property owners, nonprofit organizations, and local companies. His success was built through hard work, careful planning, fair treatment, and long-term relationships.

Running a business has taught Bob how to manage expenses, negotiate agreements, solve problems, make difficult decisions, and remain accountable for the results. His work in real estate and property management has also given him practical knowledge of homeownership, housing costs, property values, land use, neighborhood concerns, and the effects government decisions can have on families and local businesses.

Bob’s business does not depend on building more homes.

He built his success by serving the community that already exists. This allows him to evaluate every proposed development based on what it means for residents—not what it might mean for his business.

The question should always be: Will this make life better for the people who already call Santa Clarita home?

Advocating for Homeowners, Businesses, and Communities

Bob has spent years advocating for homeowners, property owners, families, businesses, and local communities.

He has traveled to Sacramento and Washington, D.C., to meet with lawmakers and discuss issues involving homeownership, housing affordability, property rights, taxation, insurance, lending, and the challenges faced by working families and business owners.

Bob has held leadership roles with local, state, and national professional organizations, including serving as president of the Southland Regional Association of Realtors and as a director with the California and National Associations of Realtors.

Through these positions, he has studied legislation, participated in policy discussions, and worked to make sure decision-makers understand how laws and regulations affect people at the community level.

For Bob, homeownership is not simply a transaction. It represents stability, opportunity, and a place where a family can build its future.

Serving the Santa Clarita Valley

Bob’s commitment to Santa Clarita extends well beyond his professional work.

He has represented local business leaders in meetings with state and federal officials, served on a William S. Hart Union High School District oversight committee, mentored local students, participated in the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, and worked on government and community issues.

He has also served as an ethics advocate and ombudsman, helping people resolve disagreements fairly and professionally.

These experiences have allowed Bob to listen to homeowners, parents, educators, employees, business owners, and community leaders.

Although their individual concerns may be different, their expectations of City Hall are often the same.

They want to be heard.

They want decisions made carefully.

They want city leaders to understand how those decisions will affect their families, neighborhoods, and businesses.

Santa Clarita Is Facing Important Choices

Our city is changing, and the choices made now will shape Santa Clarita for decades.

Residents are concerned about traffic, development, infrastructure, housing, homelessness, schools, neighborhood character, and the future of the local economy. These problems cannot be addressed with broad promises or familiar campaign phrases.

They require experience, careful planning, and a willingness to ask difficult questions before decisions are made.

Bob believes residents should never be asked to accept more development without knowing how the additional traffic, infrastructure needs, water demand, parking, and pressure on nearby neighborhoods will be handled.

Development should not be approved first and planned for later.

Planned Growth That Serves the Community

Santa Clarita should continue to move forward, but growth must have a purpose. Bob does not support growth simply for the sake of growth. New projects should be evaluated according to how they will affect the people who already live here.

Before a major project is approved, the city should ask:

  • Can the surrounding roads and intersections handle the added traffic?

  • Is the necessary infrastructure already in place?

  • How will the project affect nearby schools and neighborhoods?

  • Is there sufficient water and access to essential services?

  • Will it create useful jobs and opportunities?

  • Have the residents most affected by the project been heard?

Bob believes responsible growth means protecting established neighborhoods while planning wisely for the future.

More Opportunities Closer to Home

Many Santa Clarita residents spend hours every day commuting outside the valley.

That means less time with family, more congestion on our roads, and fewer opportunities to participate in the community.

Bob believes Santa Clarita should do more to attract employers, healthcare providers, professional services, technology companies, educational opportunities, and businesses that create good-paying local jobs. A stronger local economy can give more residents the opportunity to live, work, raise their families, and build their careers in the same community.

That is the kind of growth that can make Santa Clarita stronger.

Bob’s Role Is to Listen, Guide, and Serve

This campaign is not about making Bob the center of the story. It is about putting his experience to work for you.

His military service taught him discipline and accountability. His aviation career taught him that decisions have real consequences. His teaching experience taught him the importance of families, schools, and preparing the next generation. His business experience taught him how to plan, negotiate, solve problems, and remain responsible for the outcome. His advocacy work taught him how to take local concerns to Sacramento and Washington and make sure decision-makers understand how policies affect real people.

Bob’s role is to listen to residents, study the facts, ask the right questions, and help guide Santa Clarita toward decisions that produce the best long-term results.

What a Brighter Future Means

“A Brighter Future for Santa Clarita” is more than a campaign slogan.

It is a practical vision for the community you want for your family.

It means:

  • Schools where children can focus on learning

  • Neighborhoods where families feel comfortable and connected

  • Streets that are properly maintained and thoughtfully planned

  • Shopping areas and businesses where customers and employees feel welcome

  • Infrastructure that keeps pace with the needs of the community

  • Responsible development that respects existing neighborhoods

  • More good-paying jobs close to home

  • A City Council that listens before making decisions

A brighter future begins by understanding what residents value and making choices that protect it.

Let’s Build a Brighter Future Together

Santa Clarita’s future belongs to the people who live, work, raise families, and build businesses here.

Together, we can protect established neighborhoods, improve planning, address traffic and infrastructure, strengthen local businesses, create more opportunities close to home, and preserve the qualities that make our city special.

Your concerns should be heard.

Your family’s future should be considered.

Your neighborhood should have a voice.

Bob Khalsa would be honored to serve as your representative on the Santa Clarita City Council.
