THE ISSUES

Safer Neighborhoods and Stronger Public Safety

The Issue:
Public safety is one of the most important responsibilities of local government. Families in Santa Clarita deserve to feel safe in their homes, at local parks, in shopping centers, at schools, and throughout their neighborhoods. As the city continues to grow, residents are concerned about crime, theft, traffic safety, homelessness-related impacts, and response times when help is needed. A safe city does not happen by accident. It requires strong planning, support for law enforcement and first responders, better prevention, and a City Council that treats public safety as a top priority.

Bob’s Plan:
If elected to the Santa Clarita City Council, Bob Khalsa will support policies that keep neighborhoods safe, protect families, and give law enforcement and first responders the tools they need to do their jobs effectively. Bob believes the city should work closely with the Sheriff’s Department, firefighters, schools, local businesses, and neighborhood leaders to identify problems early and address them before they grow. He will support stronger neighborhood patrols, better lighting in public areas, improved traffic safety near schools and busy intersections, and practical solutions that protect both residents and local businesses. Bob’s goal is simple: keep Santa Clarita one of the safest and most family-friendly cities in Southern California.

Protecting Santa Clarita’s Quality of Life

The Issue:
People choose Santa Clarita because it offers something special: safe neighborhoods, clean streets, good schools, parks, open spaces, family-friendly communities, and a more peaceful way of life than many other parts of Los Angeles County. But that quality of life must be protected. As the city grows, residents are concerned about overdevelopment, traffic congestion, crowded roads, rising costs, public safety, homelessness, and decisions that can change the character of their neighborhoods. Santa Clarita should continue to grow and improve, but not at the expense of the people who already live here and invested their lives in this community.

Bob’s Plan:
If elected to the Santa Clarita City Council, Bob Khalsa will make protecting Santa Clarita’s quality of life a top priority. He will support responsible planning, safer neighborhoods, better traffic solutions, clean parks, strong public safety, and decisions that respect the concerns of residents. Bob believes growth should be carefully managed, not rushed, and every major decision should be measured by how it affects families, neighborhoods, local businesses, and the long-term future of the city. His goal is to help preserve the Santa Clarita people moved here for while making smart improvements that keep the city strong for the next generation.

Responsible Growth and Thoughtful Planning

The Issue:
Santa Clarita is growing, and residents can feel the impact every day on local roads, in neighborhoods, near schools, and throughout the community. Growth is not always a bad thing, but growth without proper planning can create more traffic, strain public safety resources, crowd neighborhoods, reduce open space, and change the character of the city. Residents deserve to know that new development is being reviewed carefully, with serious attention given to roads, parking, infrastructure, water, schools, emergency services, and the long-term impact on the people who already live here.

Bob’s Plan:
If elected to the Santa Clarita City Council, Bob Khalsa will support responsible growth that is carefully planned, community-focused, and respectful of existing neighborhoods. Bob believes every major project should be reviewed with common sense and a clear understanding of how it will affect traffic, safety, infrastructure, and quality of life. He will push for better planning, more transparency, stronger communication with residents, and smarter development standards that protect the city’s future. Bob’s goal is to make sure Santa Clarita continues to improve without losing the values, character, and livability that made families choose this city in the first place.

Reducing Traffic and Improving Local Roads

The Issue:
Traffic is one of the biggest daily frustrations for Santa Clarita residents. As more homes, businesses, schools, and shopping areas are added, local roads are becoming more crowded and commute times are getting longer. Families are spending more time sitting in traffic, parents are dealing with congestion near schools, and small businesses are affected when customers and employees have a harder time getting around town. Poor traffic flow, aging roadways, unsafe intersections, and limited planning can all impact the quality of life residents expect from Santa Clarita.

Bob’s Plan:
If elected to the Santa Clarita City Council, Bob Khalsa will push for smarter traffic planning, better road maintenance, and practical improvements that make it easier and safer for residents to move through the city. Bob believes new development should be required to address its traffic impact before projects are approved, not after problems are already created. He will support improved signal timing, safer intersections, better school-area traffic solutions, stronger coordination with regional transportation agencies, and continued investment in local road repairs and upgrades. Bob’s goal is to reduce congestion, improve safety, and make sure Santa Clarita’s roads keep up with the needs of the people who live and work here.

Supporting Local Businesses and Economic Opportunity

The Issue:
Local businesses are the backbone of Santa Clarita. They create jobs, support families, sponsor local schools and community events, and help give the city its strong local identity. But many small businesses are facing real challenges, including rising costs, regulations, labor shortages, online competition, and the everyday pressure of trying to stay open and grow. When local businesses struggle, the whole community feels it. A strong local economy means more local jobs, more opportunity for residents, stronger shopping centers, and a healthier tax base to help support city services.

Bob’s Plan:
If elected to the Santa Clarita City Council, Bob Khalsa will be a strong voice for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and working families. As a local businessman, Bob understands that City Hall should make it easier, not harder, for responsible businesses to open, operate, and grow. He will support policies that reduce unnecessary red tape, improve communication between the city and business owners, encourage local hiring, support business-friendly development, and keep Santa Clarita attractive for employers, customers, and investors. Bob’s goal is to help build a stronger local economy where businesses can succeed, residents can find good opportunities, and Santa Clarita remains a place where hard work is respected and rewarded.

A Voice for the Residents of District 5

The Issue:
District 5 residents deserve a City Council representative who listens, shows up, and understands the everyday concerns of the people who live there. Too often, residents feel like decisions are made before their voices are fully heard, especially when it comes to traffic, development, public safety, roads, neighborhood impacts, and the future of their community. District 5 needs a strong, steady voice at City Hall who will put residents first, ask the right questions, and make sure the needs of local families, homeowners, renters, seniors, and small businesses are part of every important decision.

Bob’s Plan:
If elected to the Santa Clarita City Council, Bob Khalsa will work to be an accessible, responsive, and common-sense representative for the residents of District 5. Bob believes City Hall should listen to the people most affected by its decisions, and he will make communication with residents a priority. He will support more transparency, stronger community outreach, and practical solutions that reflect the needs of District 5 neighborhoods. Bob’s goal is to make sure residents have a real voice in shaping the future of their community and that every decision is guided by what protects safety, quality of life, responsible growth, and the long-term strength of Santa Clarita.
